R&B artist Jody Watley (“Don’t You Want Me,” “Looking For a New Love,”) sets the state on fire at the “Philadelphia Soul Explosion” Benefit Concert, an intimate event held recently in Los Angeles at The Mint.

A packed house raised $6,700.00 for the benefit, which included performances by Evelyn Champagne King, Jean Terrell and The Sweet Inspirations. R&B Foundation board member David Nathan co-hosted the event with Claudette Robinson.

The Rhythm and Blues Foundation was established in 1988 to promote recognition, financial support, educational outreach and historic and cultural preservation of rhythm and blues music through various grants and programs in support of R&B and Motown artists from the 1940s through the 1970s.
