One Woman Stageplay Debuts at Elephant Theatre With Twelve Performances from May 8-31

BATMAN & ROBIN IN THE BOOGIE DOWN, a one-woman play written and performed by Juliette Jeffers and directed by Reggie Rock Bythewood, will begin performances at the Elephant Theatre in Los Angeles on May 8 with opening night on May 9. The play runs through May 31.

BATMAN & ROBIN IN THE BOOGIE DOWN is a touching, yet quirky biographical tale of two people - Jeffers and her beloved older brother, Lloyd. The play chronicles their life and loss, from the exuberant childhood games as Batman and Robin to Lloyd’s sudden passing at the age of 33. Jeffers creates a poignant story of two lives eternally intertwined, illustrated with 20 vibrant characters from their shared past in the Bronx and beyond.

This engagement of BATMAN & ROBIN IN THE BOOGIE DOWN is a No Lid Inc. presentation, produced by Tammy Garnes and Allison Curry.

Performances begin at 8:00 p.m. on May 8-10, 15-17, 22-24 and 29-31. Tickets priced at $20.00 are available at The Elephant Theatre Box Office, 6322 Santa Monica Boulevard, on the night of performance. For further information, call (323) 769-6242.

A Bronx, New York native, Jeffers began her journey as an artist at The High School of Performing Arts in Manhattan. She went on to earn a degree in Languages from Hofstra University. Upon graduation, Jeffers moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.

She has appeared on several high-profile television series, including “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, “Martin”, “Boy Meets World” and “Murder She Wrote.” In 2002, Jeffers authored a book of short stories and poetry entitled “I Found My Voice and It Ain’t Cute.”

After co-founding the Harlem-based theater company called The Tribe, Bythewood went on to write the screenplay for Spike Lee’s feature film “Get on the Bus.” He also wrote and directed the HBO original film, “Dancing In September,” which was screened as an official selection at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Bythewood most recently co-wrote and directed the Dreamworks film “Biker Boyz,” which debuted in theaters in early 2003.
