On April 28, 2012, the San Bernardino Family YMCA will participate in Healthy Kids Day along with YMCA’s nationwide. YMCA Healthy Kids Day is an annual event that encourages kids and families to stay active, connected and healthy. Studies have shown that children gain body mass index (BMI) nearly twice as fast during the summer as during the school year. That’s why the YMCA is committed to improve the health of our children and community. The YMCA Healthy Kids Day is a community-based event that celebrates making fitness fun and introduces kids to an array of YMCA programs that teaches healthy behaviors and healthy ways to play.

Our Y celebrates Healthy Kids Day each year by offering a variety of healthy vendors to educate families about health and well-being services in the area, a variety of fun games, healthy snacks, and activities, as well as a few surprises throughout the day. This year’s theme is ‘’Take on Summer’’. It serves as a rally cry for kids and families to take charge of their physical and intellectual health by staying active from head to toe this summer. After all, playing and learning shouldn’t take a break when school does.

We rely on the community’s support to provide the most fun day possible for families in our community. We hope you will consider supporting our Y’s Healthy Kids day and helping provide activities, games, and fun activities for families.
