“CHW’s community grants program reflects our commitment to serve our community, not only as a health care provider, but also as a partner to those who would work to better the lives of others within our community,” said Linda McDonald, Service Area Vice President of Mission Services. “This year, St. Bernardine Medical Center and Community Hospital of San Bernardino are thrilled to have provided more than $220,000 to worthy organizations that provide important services such as youth development programs and resources that improve access to health and dental care for the underserved within our community.”
Catholic Healthcare West’s Community Grants Program began in 1990 to encourage CHW hospitals to expand their health care mission beyond the hospital campus. CHW sought to do this by partnering with neighborhood nonprofit organizations that were working to improve the health status and quality of life of the communities served. The 2012 Community Grants cycle marks the 22nd year of this program. Since 1990, CHW has awarded nearly $41 million in grants in the tri-state area.
