The Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino is pleased to announce its annual fundraiser, “Classically Black… A Night at the Symphony”, a concert showcasing classically trained African American musicians. This year’s event will feature internationally acclaimed pianist, Eldred Marshall, classically trained hip-hop violinist and self-proclaimed “maestro,” Lee England, Jr., and include other nationally known musicians along with a sampling of the community’s up-andcoming local talent. The event will take place Sunday, Oct. 10 at the historical California Theatre of Performing Arts in San Bernardino. Doors open at 3:00 p.m. The concert will begin at 4:30 p.m.

“This event promises to enlighten the community and perhaps even inspire a young person to pursue a career in classical music,” said A. Majadi, Club president and chief executive officer. “At a time when many school music programs are facing drastic cuts or elimination altogether, it’s important to provide our youth this musical experience,” said Majadi.

The event is being sponsored by San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, the Wilmer Amina Carter Foundation, San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Josie Gonzales, and Arrowhead Medical Center. Tickets are $10 for students and $20 for adults. Proceeds from the event will help support the Club’s music-related programs.
