A grand opening will be held for Loma Linda University Behavioral Health Institute (LLUBHI) today from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. at 1686 Barton Road in Redlands. The Institute will provide comprehensive outpatient behavioral health services at one convenient location while integrating academic, research, and clinical practice—the first collaboration of its kind in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.

“With this collaboration, we will be able to reach more of our community that is so underserved,” said Jill Pollock, administrator for LLUBHI.

“Clinics will offer a sliding scale fee which will provide a variety of excellent treatment options to those in need.”

The opening of LLUBHI will also enable Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center (LLUBMC), which is adjacent to LLUBHI, to expand some of its outpatient mental health and chemical dependency services for youth. Services will also include a grant-funded program for adolescent self-injury and eating disorders for adults and adolescents. Other services provided by the Department of Psychiatry, Counseling and Family Sciences Clinic, and the Department of Psychology Clinic will include therapy for individuals, couples, and families; psychological testing; psychiatric evaluation; and medication management.

“We are hoping that this new Institute, by improving diagnosis and focusing on prevention, will help decrease the stigma associated with mental illness and chemical dependency,” said Dr. William Murdoch, medical director of LLUBHI. “Just like any other health condition, mental health disorders have a biological basis and can be treated.”

The grand opening of LLUBHI is open to the public and will include a dedication ceremony and an opportunity to tour the 46,000 square foot facility. For more information, visit llubhi.org.
