City of Readers Invites Public to Annual Community Meeting

City of Readers is holding its annual Community Meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24 at the Board of Education building, 777 North F Street in San Bernardino.

Community members, including parents and off-track students, are encouraged to attend. Guest speakers from the Inland Empire 66ers baseball team and Fiesta Village Family Fun Park will introduce two upcoming, literacy-oriented events: Hit the Books and Spelling Spectacular.

Parents of teens can learn about A.S.T.E.R.I.S.K.*, the paid, summer internship program sponsored and organized by San Bernardino City Unified School District. Attendees can also learn about the upcoming Family and Community Reading Festival.

The District¹s Communications/Community Relations Department will make a brief presentation about City of Readers Recommends, including the first City of Readers Recommends contest. Entries will be accepted until the meeting begins, and winners will be selected at the end of the meeting. Prizes include framed, inspirational Spider-Man artwork for one child under 12 and a Barnes and Noble gift card for one winner age 12 or older. For details, visit www.sbcusd.com/cityofreaders.
