The next City of San Bernardino Beautification Partnership cleanup day is set to take place on Saturday, April 14, 2012, and the City is officially accepting nominations for projects needing cleanup citywide.
“The program is a comprehensive and strategic approach to enhancing the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the City of San Bernardino, and these bi-annual cleanup days are just one part of the multi-faceted approach,” said City Manager Charles McNeely. “The goal is to transform and position the City as a place people want to live, work, and play.
The inaugural cleanup day, which took place on September 10, 2011 was a huge success with more than 2,000 volunteers painting, clearing debris, planting trees and shrubs and disposing of waste for 59 designated projects throughout San Bernardino.
“Cleanup days like these instill a sense of pride and camaraderie in communities,” said Mayor Patrick Morris. “The first cleanup was such a huge success; I anticipate even greater participation this year.”
The City is asking anyone with a project idea for the next cleanup in April to submit the idea by calling Deborah Okogba, Beautification Partnership Project Manager at 909-384-5122 or Okogba_De@sbcity.org. The deadline for project submission is Jan. 31.
