Healthy Fontana Receives $10,000 Grant from Kaiser Permanente

The Mayor and City Council recently announced the acceptance of the Community Benefit Grant from Kaiser Permanente in the amount of $10,000 awarded to the Healthy Fontana program.

To help fight the obesity epidemic, Healthy Fontana will be hosting evening events starting in November and ending in June to educate and motivate the residents of Fontana to be healthy. “Healthy Fontana Nights” will be a family-oriented, interactive evening focusing on various methods for remaining physically active and making healthy meal choices.

“Healthy Fontana Nights” will be held twice a month for a two-hour interactive evening about nutrition and active play from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8th at the Cypress Community Center and Tuesday, November 29th at the Lewis Library and Technology Center, conference room. On December 15th, a presentation and book signing opportunity with Dr. Mike Moreno, author of the “17 Day Diet” and Kaiser Permanente physician at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“We are pleased to be able to provide this grant to the City of Fontana in support of their very successful Healthy Fontana program.”

Thanks to the Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center Community Benefits Grant, the City of Fontana can hold the “Healthy Fontana Nights,” and the community will have an opportunity to learn new fitness and nutritional tools to live a healthier lifestyle.
