The Links Host Scholarship Breakfast

Saturday, May 7, from 8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. , The San Bernardino Valley Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will host their 33rd Annual Scholarship Breakfast Ball at the Doubletree Hotel located at 222 North Vineyard, Ontario, California.

The Links, Incorporated is an international, non-profit corporation, established in 1946. The membership consists of 12,000 professional women of color in 274 chapters located in 42 states, the District of columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. It is one of the nation's oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustain, and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

The San Bernardino Valley Chapter of The Links, Incorporated have served the San Bernardino and Riverside County communities by offering resources to empower adults and children, providing tutoring and mentoring programs for our youth, encouraging civic involvement, promoting cultural enrichment and offering free health and wellness workshops to the public.

The chapter has awarded over $300,000 in scholarships since their establishment in 1979, recognizing more than 200 high school seniors for their academic accomplishments. Many of the former scholarship recipients have become successful in their careers as educators, physicians, lawyers, entrepreneurs, politicians and community leaders.

The San Bernardino Valley Chapter recognizes the importance of preparing today's youth for the challenge of an increasingly competitive, global society.

The Honorable Aquanetta Warren, Mayor of Fontana, will be the scholarship presenter for the morning. After scholarships are presented to nine outstanding students, the guests are invited to dance to the music of The Derrick Edmondson Band. Tickets are $40 per person and the event is semi formal.
