When LATINA Style Magazine came calling about her recognition as “Entrepreneur of the Year,” Alycia D. Enciso was hesitant to accept the prestigious award. “There are so many other women in my community who are more successful and deserving of this award but I am honored that my 30 years of work are being recognized by my community,” said Enciso about her initial uncertainty. With a national circulation of 150,000 and a readership of nearly 600,000, LATINA Style Magazine touts itself as “the first national magazine dedicated to the needs and concerns of the contemporary Latina professional workingwoman and the Latina business owner in the United States”, words that describe exactly who Enciso is.
A native of San Bernardino and the eldest daughter of a family of ten children, Alycia is a force to be reckoned with. The love for her work and community are commendable and her list of accomplishments are vast.
Enciso is the founder, President & CEO of Alycia Enciso and Associates, Inc., a space planning and interior design firm based in California established in 1979. She also adds to her credit the founding of Purchasing Furniture Systems, a furniture dealership company. Enciso has earned a reputation for outstanding professional skill, expertise and service in residential, corporate, senior housing and health care planning and design.
Her list of clients include TELACU Senior Housing, Gardner Family Health Network, Gardner Family Care Corporation, One Source Youth Programs, Wang Laboratories, Cerrell Associates, Barbosa Law Firm and Douglas Furniture to name a few.
She has been recognized internationally with two prestigious awards, the International Design for Excellence in Interior Design Award at the Design International Conference in Paris, France and the Women in Design International Award for Excellence in Interior Design at the Congress of Women Architects and Town Planners in Berlin, Germany. Of the numerous awards in the United States, she is very proud of the Home Fashion League Award in Los Angeles. Enciso was named Minority Firm of the Year by Congressman James Rogan. Ms Enciso has been published in several books and magazines and her photographs are currently featured in “Mexican Americans in Los Angeles".
Enciso has received numerous Recognitions and Commendations from state and local forms of government, among them Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and First Lady Maria Shriver, Congresswomen Loretta Sanchez, Senator Nell Soto, former Mayors Tom Bradley, Richard Riordon, and Judith Valles, Supervisor Gloria Molina for her community, business, and civic work.
Although her recognition from LATINA Style Magazine may come as a surprise to Ms. Enciso, President and Publisher of the magazine Robert Bard said, “Alycia has been selected based on her lifetime achievements and her visibility as a true role model for our young women”. Alycia Enciso will be honored on Novermber 18th at the LATINA Entrepreneur Awards Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles; the luncheon is a part of the magazine’s annual Business Series.
