During the weekend of September 11th & 12th, Pharoah’s Adventure Park will host “Summer Splash” from 10 am to 8 pm. The two day back to school event is anticipating 5,000 students, pre-school thru 12th grade to attend each day.
The Festival provides an opportunity for young people to receive basic school supplies, a pair of shoes and full day of activities for low-moderate income families. For example, Nike will provide 2,000 pairs of shoes, while supplies last.
The event is also designed to expose families to available educational, health, employment, and social services in the local community.
Terrence Stone, Director of the Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy has motivated his staff to provide a wonderful opportunity for youth and their parents to benefit. Program Director Ruben Herndon encourages community vendors to take advantage of this highly attended event. He can be contacted at (909) 991-9683 www.yvyla-ie.org or firstname.lastname@example.org
To honor the Americans who lost their lives on 9/11 in New York, local ROTC and a special Marine Corps detachment from Camp Pendelton will conduct a ceremony, on their behalf. There will also be special guest speakers.
Entertainment incudes a Battle of the Bands, Youth Talent Show and Poetry Slam. Additionally, there will be public school options, speakers on positive parenting and youth community action.
