Inland residents have the opportunity to celebrate the patriotic service of veterans in the community and to benefit local veterans outreach programs by attending the 11-11-11 Veterans Day Celebration at The Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside.
Howie Mandel, comedian extraordinaire featured in countless comedy specials, host of the hidden camera show “Mobbed” and the TV Game Show “Deal or No Deal”, actor and celebrity judge on the NBC hit show “America’s Got Talent” created by Simon Cowell will take the stage as headliner at the Fox for a fabulous evening of comedy at the 11-11-11 Veterans Day Concert.
There will also be an opening Special Guest performance by the brilliant 82nd Airborne All-American Chorus. They serve our country in some of the world toughest war zones, and happen to also be one of the finest male-voice choirs in the USA. We are proud to welcome these talented and dedicated servicemen back once again as part of the Fox special Veterans Day Tribute.
A special discount to the 11-11-11 performance is being offered to veterans and active duty personnel who present their valid military ID at the Fox Box office to receive up to two tickets at the reduced cost of $30 each; a discount of more than 60% of the standard ticket pricing. In addition, a limited number of VIP tickets are available at $150 for premium seating and a chance to meet the 82nd All American Chorus members before the show.
Additionally, there will be a special tribute in honor of Inland Empire World War II and Korean War Veterans in attendance who are featured in KVCR’s Reflections On War, a PBS-TV series of firsthand accounts from local war veterans. Their stories of fear, valor, tragedy, and friendship both teach and inspire us, as KVCR recounts these events with the people who lived them. This 2-year project invites War Veterans and War-time survivors into KVCR studios to sit down and talk about their personal experiences. The goal of the project is designed to educate the community on past wars and the sacrifices made by these men and women. This form of oral and visual history reshapes stereotypical war education in a way many have never imagined.
KVCR believes the personal witness of War Veterans are the most effective ambassadors of memory, history, hope and tenacity and should be preserved for future generations to learn from, for the families of the survivors to help understand, and for the National Archives in preservation of our history.
All of the stories included in The Reflections On War series will be stored in the Library of Congress to preserve forever, the precious personal testimonies not currently provided in our nations archives.
