Healthy Heritage Movement to Celebrate MLK's Dream

Over 100 are expected in downtown Riverside to honor Dr. Martin Luther King

The Healthy Heritage Movement, which strives to educate and empower the African American community to make healthy lifestyle changes, is proud to honor Dr. Martin Luther King and his dream on January 17th at the site of Dr. King’s monument located on the corners of Main Street and 9th Street.

This elaborate dedication will begin with an invocation by renowned Pastor Gerald T. Hightower of Purpose Center International Ministries and followed by Keynote Speaker and City of Riverside Ward 2 Councilmember Andy Melendrez. The Healthy Heritage Movement in conjunction with Purpose Center International Ministries has gathered a team of leaders from the community of Riverside to walk hand-in-hand to honor Dr. Martin Luther King in downtown Riverside in an effort to unite the community.

This event is just one of many other events that will serve as a foundation for larger events hosted by Healthy Heritage in an effort to get the community of Riverside healthier. “In an effort to honor Dr. King, it is only bestowing that we relive his dream and what he has done for our country, my future and our children’s future,” stated Phyllis Clark, Chief Executive Officer of the Healthy Heritage Movement. Dr. Gerald T. Hightower, Senior Pastor at Purpose Center International Ministries adds, “It’s starts with the leaders of our community to be an example and it is our mission for 2011 to be leaders in the unity and wellness movement.”
