The Fair Housing Council of Riverside County, Inc. recently announced the sponsorship of Wells Fargo Bank to further expand Fair Housing Council’s First-Time Homebuyers workshops and Foreclosure Prevention program. Wells Fargo Bank has generously contributed $15,000 to expand these services for the local community.

• Fair Housing Council’s First-Time Homebuyers workshops are eight hour classes that provide education to help participants understand each stage in the home-buying process.

• Fair Housing Council’s Foreclosure Prevention program provides free individual counseling in foreclosure prevention, credit counseling, and case management for homeowners who are delinquent, in default, or are in the foreclosure process.

Over the past year, Fair Housing Council has provided 17 First-Time Homebuyer workshops for 735 potential homebuyers, and has individually counseled over 2,500 borrowers facing foreclosure. With this endorsement, Fair Housing Council will continue counseling for foreclosure prevention, and will be able to double its number of First-Time Homebuyer workshops through the end of the year. First-Time Homebuyer program manager, Jesse Limon has said, “First-Time Homebuyers education is the key to recovering from this foreclosure crisis, because homebuyer education significantly reduces the chance that a borrower will become delinquent.”
