Riverside employers can expect a call in the next few weeks as part of an unprecedented survey study of local salaries, hiring trends, occupations and the general consensus of opinion about the current business climate.
The study, which targets all companies with five or more employees, is being sponsored by the City of Riverside Development Department. Information collected through phone interviews will be used to assist the City in developing programs that serve jobseekers and employers and provide a more accurate forecast of Riverside’s future job growth as well as business threats and opportunities.
“This comprehensive survey will allow the City to collect real, relevant information that is much more accurate than relying solely on third-party or State and National data to gauge the confidence and performance level of our employer base,” said Tricia Hinckley, Economic Development Manger with the City. “It will enable us, along with our partners, the Riverside County Economic Development Agency and Workforce Investment Board, to create focused programs, incentives and retention efforts based on the identification of industry and job growth opportunities.”
In order to instill confidence in the business community and ensure professionalism during the process, the City has contracted with ERISS Corporation to conduct the survey. ERISS, a leading provider of job market information and web applications has conducted similar projects across theUnited States. Barbara Nyegaard, CEO of ERISS, wants to assure participating businesses that all wage and salary information collected during the survey will remain confidential.
The data will be aggregated; company names will not appear in the final report.
The telephone interviews begin this week and are expected to take six to eight weeks to complete. Employers will receive a fax notice prior to their call. Individual interviews, conducted with the company’s C-level executives or human resources representatives, are estimated to last an average of 7-10 minutes. Following completion of the survey portion of the process, the data will be analyzed and a final report is expected this summer.
