The Idyllwild Arts Summer Program will continue over 60 years of tradition providing rare opportunities for creative self-discovery in the arts June 27 - August 21. Each summer, over 1,900 beginner to advanced children, teens, and adults attend Idyllwild Arts' workshops beneath the towering pines to pursue their interests in creative writing, dance, music, theatre and visual art all taught by some of the most sought after artists in America. During the upcoming summer session, there will be weeklong festivals and special programs, including the famed Native American Arts program. Each of the unique programs brings a dimension and depth to specific artistic pursuits while small class sizes allow a more individualized approach to learning.

The Native American Arts Festival runs July 11-17 and highlights guest speakers from tribal nations throughout the United States. This weeklong festival is designed to enhance the hands-on workshops which include: Hopi Jewelry, Navajo Weaving, Cahuilla Basketry, Santa Clara Pueblo Pottery, Native Plants for Food & Medicine and Native American Beadwork just to name a few.

This year, there will be a tribute to Hopi Artist Michael Kabotie through performances, exhibits, lectures and discussions of this extraordinary artist consisting of: Native music and chanting, the Trickster concept in Native America and beyond, the Artists' Journey, Healing & Recovery and much more.

Back again is the popular "Pay Once, Learn Twice",provides the opportunity for any youth student attending the summer program to apply their tuition to enrollment in the Idyllwild Arts Academy.

The offer is non-transferable and would be used towards the upcoming 2010- 2011 academic year. The applied amount to your Academy tuition is the total amount you paid, not including discounts or scholarships.

Students enrolled in the summer program receive priority consideration for their admission to the academy and could be eligible for a discount.

One of the focal points of the summer session is the Parks Exhibition Center where artists' lectures and demonstrations are held with artist receptions each Monday at 8:00p.m. June 28 - July 19.

Summer hours are: June 27 - August 21; 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Tuesday - Saturday and Sunday, 12:00 noon - 5:00 pm. The Parks Exhibition Center is closed on Mondays to prepare for the weekly exhibit.

From July 3 -9 families will share the incomparable beauty of Idyllwild, while choosing from a wide range of arts and crafts classes to ignite their creative talents. Families can get involved in concerts, lectures, campfires and games or just take a swim, go on a hike or just relax with a good book. Bringing families closer in a supportive, artistic environment has made The Family Camp one of the most popular within the Summer Program schedule.

The 205-acre campus of Idyllwild Arts is located in Strawberry Valley on the tree lined western slopes of the San Jacinto Mountain range in Southern California. Near the campus is the village of Idyllwild, a popular tourist destination and artist's colony.

The village of Idyllwild has abundant fine restaurants and specialty shops, art galleries, and unique artisans. Idyllwild Arts is just a short 2.5 hour drive from either the metropolitan Los Angeles or San Diego areas.
