Enjoy a Night Out with the Fontana Police Department

Fontana - The Mayor and City Council invite the public to attend the Fontana Police Department’s 29th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 7th from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Jessie Turner Health and Fitness Community Center, located at 15556 Summit Ave. The event will feature free food, live entertainment, raffle prizes, giveaways, police demonstrations and many more entertaining activities.

National Night out promotes Neighborhood Watch, police-community partnerships, neighborhood unity and the building of a safer, more caring community. “The event has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation,” said Fontana Police Department’s Heather Howard. Thousands of people across the nation participate in this once a year event that unites citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials.

Children will be thoroughly entertained with free games, face-painting, arts and crafts and appearances from McGruff the Crime Dog as well as Eddie the Gun Safety Eagle Mascot. The Lewis Library Bus will also provide fun-filled activities for children. Those in attendance can enjoy free hot dogs, compliments of the Fontana Police Department and 7-Eleven.

The Fontana Police Department will display the FPD Helicopter, motorcycles, SWAT team weaponry, vehicles and put on K-9 demonstration as well as provide child safety seat inspections. Farmers Insurance Group will sponsor free digital child identification. Their program, called M.I.L.K., (Managing Information on Lost Kids) is meant to aid in the recovery of missing children.
