Southern California Gas Company is working with the Department of Public Social Services to let you know about programs and services that may help you, or someone you know, save money and energy.
And, you may qualify if you participate in programs, like CalFresh (formerly known as Food Stamps) or Medi-Cal.
No-Cost Energy-Saving Home Improvements The Energy Savings
Assistance Program provides qualified renters and homeowners with easy, no-cost solutions to help reduce energy use and save money on their monthly gas bill. Improvements may include attic insulation, high-efficiency clothes washers, door weather stripping, caulking, water heater blankets, low-flow showerheads and minor home repairs. In addition, eligible homeowners may receive nocost limited furnace and water heater repair or replacement services.
20% Discount on Your Gas Bill
Eligible customers of SoCalGas may receive a 20 percent discount on their monthly gas through our California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program. Customers who are enrolled in a public assistance program such as Medi-Cal, or Cal Fresh or meet income guidelines may qualify for this program. New customers may also receive a $15 discount on their Service Establishment Charge.
Save More Money if You Have Certain Medical Conditions
If you or a full-time member of your household has a medical condition requiring a continuous level of heating, you may qualify for more gas at the lower baseline rate. The Medical Baseline Allowance program is not based on income; however, doctor certification is required.
Any qualified SoCalGas customer who participates in CalFresh, Medi-Cal or any other qualifying program may be eligible for one or more SoCalGas Customer Assistance programs. Proof of eligibility may be required.
