RCOE offers on-the-job training program

The Riverside County Office of Education is offering an onthe- job training program for more than 100 young people with federal stimulus money available to reimburse employers who participate to cover training costs.

The Transition Partnership Program (TPP) offered by RCOE is a partnership with the Department of Rehabilitation and finds jobs for young people who recently completed high school and who have learning disabilities or physical disabilities.

Some of the young job hunters have no work experience.

Others have completed a vocational training program and an internship in a field such as warehousing, child care, or retail.

Employers who continue to employ one of the participants for several months may also qual ify for the state’s Work Opportunity Tax Credit.

The Ultimate Jazz Festival Returns to Fairmount Park

Mark your calendars for the premiere jazz event of the summer... the 2nd Annual Ultimate Jazz Festival.

Last year’s Ultimate Jazz Festival was a real treat with two full days of an incredible lineup of award-winning Jazz, R&B and Latin artists. The 2nd Annual Ultimate Jazz Festival hosted by Jazz to be Green, returns this summer on August 7th through the 8th at the beautiful scenic Fairmount Park in Riverside, Calif.

Jazz to be Green is proud to partner with the Lupus Foundation this year by contributing a percentage of the proceeds from the 2nd Annual Ultimate Jazz Festival towards this worthy cause. Lupus is a chronic disease which attacks the autoimmune system. An estimated 5 million people suffer from this life-threatening illness, and an estimated 16,000 new cases of lupus are reported world-wide each year.

Festival Director and Jazz to be Green President Darryl Bundridge is passionate about the cause. Ultimate Jazz Festival ticketholders will not only have an opportunity to hear charttopping musicians, but the satisfaction of knowing that they will also be supporting a worthy organization for future research and development in hopes of finding a cure to help those inflicted with this devastating disease.

Image Awards Trip

The San Bernardino Branch of the NAACP is hosting a fundraising bus trip to the 41st Annual Image Awards, to be held on February 26 at the historic Shrinner's Hall in downtown Los Angeles.

The cost of the event is $60, which includes admission and bus transportation. Seats will be sold on a first come first serve basis.

Join us to see the stars and enjoy a great evening What will win the Outstanding Motion Picture award, The Blind Side, Invictus, Michael Jackson This Is It, Precious or Princess and the Frog. Or who will win in the over 40 categories.

Fontana Community Foundation Launches Web Site

Scholarship for Moreno Valley Allied Health Programs in Tough Economic Times

Riverside County 5th District Supervisor Marion Ashley today announced a donation of $20,000 to a RCCD Moreno Valley Campus scholarship for allied health programs. The money comes from Community Improvement and Development Funds, which are designated by each supervisor for the development and improvement of the districts they represent.
