When I learned the 13^th chapter of 1^st Corinthians with emphasis on verse 11; When I was a child I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put a way childish things”, until I became the parent, grandparent and now great grandparent. Now that I have more time to watch television and observe with the kids, I find myself watching it with the kids. With the advent of 24/7 children programs of all ages you can get great insight into how your children are programmed and think.  I now know about Sponge Bob Square Pants, Sister, Sister, That’s so Raven, Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Hannah Montana, not to mention the countless cartoons on Nickelodeon and Disney channels. Then if that is not enough if they get in the car with us it is turn to the Disney station.

My wife will say to the kids every once in a while haven’t you seen this? Aren’t you tired of it? They will respond no. I like this part and then they will proceed to quote and act out the part. I then think of how many times I have watched my favorite movies over and over again until I can know when to recite my favorite quote and there are many. Now that I have the grandchildren around it has expanded my vision of how to include them into my thinking about everything I do.  Another thing I have noticed about them is they will say to me “grand daddy, here is the remote, you can watch what you want to.” Sometimes they will even turn it to the news channel for me and watch it with me.  I am surprised from time to time how knowledgeable they are on some current issues, only to learn they had heard about it from those kids programs. I noticed that the kids programs have more cultural diversity issues than ever.

Yes I am a man but find myself doing childish things like talking in baby language to my youngest granddaughter, or trying to think like my teenage grandson and humming his tunes.

To all the parents, grandparents and great grandparents you will never put away those childish things if you love and interact with your family. Another thing about family is if you allow them, they will do the little things for you so I can enjoy playing and watching television with them. My grandchildren get me different things to drink. They will come and stretch my leg muscles by crossing my legs.

Yes I have become an expert on these kids programs so now I have my favorites. I know when certain programs come on just like I know when my favorite news programs come on. Even though we grow up the little kid in us never goes away and I want to thank, Lynn, James, Justin, Jasmine, Jonathan, Vanessa, Jaden, Isabella, Paulette, Rickerby, Alexander, Hardy, Sonietta, Jordan, Peyton, Regina, Kurt, Kennedy and grand mother Cheryl for this wonderful world of parenthood (grandparenthood and great grandparenthood) at every level.
