While reading my Oswald Chambers Journal, I read this: “If we are going to live as disciples of Jesus, we have to remember that all noble things are difficult. The Christian life is gloriously difficult, but the difficulty of it does not make us faint and cave in, it rouses us up to ov ercome. Do we so appreciate the marvelous salvation of Jesus Christ that we are our utmost for His highest?”

Moreno Valley and the many others who missed the 6th Annual Madam C. J. Walker Luncheon & business Expo, you really missed a history making event. The theme was “Business Success In Today’s Economy.” The Master of ceremony was Mr. Houston Layton of the African American Historical Society, Riverside. The Inland Empire Buffalo Soldiers Association led the display of colors/pledge of allegiance.

The special guest was Mr. Aubrey Stone, President and Dr. Robert Gains of the California Black Chamber. The keynote speaker of the day was the great granddaughter of Madam C. J. Walker, Ms. A’Lelia Bundles who spoke of her great grandmother and her love for shopping and how she started in the hair care business. Back in the day, the early 1890’s, people did not wash their hair as often as we do today, and when Walker’s hair started to fall out, she went to work to find a way to make her scalp healthy. This was the beginning of Walker’s Wonderful Hair Grower & Vegetable Shampoo. It was such an awesome story of our first Black woman millionaire and such an inspirational speech that many stated that it inspired them to do something more with their lives.

Mrs. Bundles is a very humble person and it was a joy to be in her presence.

Her book “On Her Own Ground, The Life and Tmes of Madam C. J. Walker” is a wonderful book to read or give as a gift. Awards for the 2010 year were given to: Cynthia Webster, Avon Center, Cash Enrichment, Millionaire Mind Set, TGM Communications, Aaron Knox, Cala Thomas, Donald Warrick Family Home Base, Deans Janitorial Services, Leonard Deans, Photos Onsight Studio, Pamela Laudermill, Focus Estate, Inc., Naji Doumit and Verizon, Douglas R. McAllister. A special presentation to the American Cancer Society from the MVBCCF was given in memory of Mr. Charles Ledbetter.

This past Sunday was Penteost at Cathedral Of Praise International Ministries and God showed up and with Him, he brought a “Fresh Wind.” During all three services, God was in the midst of it all. To God be the glory, so many lives were changed and in the midst of all the outpouring, people were amazed at what was happening that they became drunk with the Holy Spirit and the healing. There will be lots of praise reports at a later date.

“I’M JUST TALKING” God is always talking to us but He is asking for private time with us in study and prayer and just for us to listen to what he is saying, “slow down”.

Come together, be more loving, stop worrying about titles because it is not about a title, it is about who do you really love.
