A good definition for a wiki is found at the Wikipedia (the most popular wiki on the Internet): "A wiki is a website that allows the visitors themselves to easily add, remove, and otherwise edit and change available content, and typically without the need for registration." The full definition can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki.

There are many wiki sites that are useful for you to tap into, such as http://www.smallbusiness.com/wiki/Main_Page; however, I suggest that you start your own internal Wiki as a means to collaborate with both your clients and your staff. Spend some time interacting with other Wiki communities so that you may grasp the full power of the Wiki.

There are many freely available wiki's that your webmaster can set up on your hosting server. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki (The well known Wikipedia.org uses this software), http://twiki.org/, and http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/ are a few free wiki software.

A mind map is a brainstorming tool that has a variety of great applications. You can find out more about the history of mind mapping, its creator Tony Buzon and some applications at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_map.

Mind mapping is a great method of determining or discovering project requirements, taking notes and organizing your thoughts on any subject. While creating mind maps on a white board or on paper is usually sufficient, sometimes it is useful to capture your mind map in a digital format for easier collaboration.

The best free mind map tool, I have been able to find, is Free Mind, which can be found here: http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page. These Mind Maps can be published on your web page if you wish to share them.

In the next article I will discuss low cost and free telephone conferencing, video conferencing and voice conferencing solutions.
